Life threatening situation? Always call 112

Passers-by care

GP care for passers-by is available to anyone in need of a GP and who is not registered with a GP practice in the area where the care is needed. This can include, for example, tourists and migrant workers.

This care is organised as follows in the Zeeland areas of Walcheren, Bevelanden and Schouwen-Duiveland:

  • Call 112 in case of a life-threatening situation
  • Regular GP practices are responsible for providing the care needed during office hours (from 08:00 to 17:00 hours). Details of which GP practice(s) you can visit are listed below, depending on where you’re staying. The relevant GP practice’s website will provide you with instructions on how to establish contact with them.
  • Medicoo app
It’s good to know that some of the local GPs use the Medicoo app (https://medicoo.nl/). You’ll instantly be able to see this from the following list of practices. In that case the initial contact would go through the app, where you’ll be assisted by a professional team via a chat, which will subsequently refer you to the right care or assistance as efficiently as possible.

Are you in need of emergency care during the evening, night and/or weekend? Then take a look at www.huisartsenspoedpostzeeland.nl/en/passers-by-care/ for the exact procedure first.
